民進黨主席暨總統參選人蔡英文成功訪美，立法院副院長洪秀柱說，「規格沒有比蔡英文高我幹嘛去！」。如今蔡英文登上《時代雜誌》封面並接受亞洲總編輯專訪，PTT網友假想「柱柱姐」可能擺出的姿態說，「沒有總編輯來我不接受採訪」。
蔡英文登上最新一期《TIME》封面，標題是「她將可能領導華人世界唯一民主國家」。而蔡英文也是繼印度總理莫迪、印尼總統佐科威、韓國總統朴槿惠後，最新一位登上時代雜誌封面的亞洲政治人物。
民進黨發出新聞稿表示，最新一期的時代雜誌報導中，向全球讀者介紹了蔡英文的成長、學術背景，更詳盡描述蔡英文對台灣未來、經濟發展及兩岸政策的願景。該則報導內文提及，身為在2016年台灣總統大選中的領先者，蔡英文「自信又堅定」的強調以台灣為核心的國家發展願景，並將台灣的經濟發展與文化建設放在優先。
該則報導中，對於台灣的經濟發展部分，引述了蔡英文台灣未來「需要一個新模式」的主張，並強調，將加強台灣與世界的連結、扶植台灣品牌，以降低對大陸過度的依賴。
報導也提及，台灣人民現在所更加強調的不只是一般的成長指標，而是真正高品質的生活；也因此，蔡英文的經濟政策在這次選戰中，更可能獲得選民支持。
這則消息在端午節假期曝光，一早就引發網友熱議，有趣的是，大家對「小辣椒」愈來愈熟悉，假想柱柱姐可能擺出的姿態說，「叫時代記者過來採訪我」、「沒有總編輯來我不接受採訪」、「柱柱姐我上周刊王」。
洪秀柱上午受訪表示，「很好啊」，如果真的是這樣，也很恭喜她。
事實上，時代雜誌也訪問洪秀柱。報導中提到，因為身材嬌小與好戰性格而被封為「小辣椒」的洪秀柱，與擁有學者形象的蔡英文，呈現顯著的對比。洪秀柱說，「我不認為蔡英文是一位強的對手」。
